PROTECTIVE SHIELDING ASSEMBLY FOR USE IN LOADINGA HYPODERMIC SYRINGE WITH RADIOACTIVE MATERIALABSTRACT OF THEDISCLOSUREThe disclosure of this application is directed to aprotective shielding assembly suitable for use in the loading ofa hypodermic syringe with radioactive material. The protectiveshielding device receives and securely holds, at one end, a vialwhich contains the material to be loaded and at its opposite enda hypodermic syringe with the needle of the syringe approximatelycentered with respect to the septum of the vial. Penetration ofthe septum of the vial is effected by moving the slidable membersof the protective shielding assembly toward the vial which inturn moves the hypodermic syringe causing the needle of thehypodermic syringe to rupture the vial septum and enter the vial.- 1 -
