The universal brake control system switches the train brakes from direct braking to indirect braking without having to alter the pressure in the secondary brake line. The latter is linked to the hold-off brake cylinders in the indirector brake system. This allows the secondary line to supply ancillary systems in the direct connections. - The switch from direct to indirect braking is wholly controlled by electric servo valves. The train carriages can be used in mixed systems in either direct or indirect control.
