H2 storage electrode, based on gp. III-V transition elements (I) and active material (II) promoting H2 absorption, has the basic and active material mixed intimately in finely-divided form, compressed to a moulding and sintered, then crushed again, re-mixed, compressed and re-sintered at least once, (pref. twice). Electrode is used in galvanic cells with reversible storage electrodes, e.g. sec. batteries or certain metal-air elements, generally in conjunction with alkaline electrolytes. Rapid H2 absorption and desorption in a reversible process at low polarisation make a high current density possible and a high storage capacity available.
