The series connected thermocouples have shanks formed from foils of two different thermoelectric material, and are mounted on a support. The two foils are connected along their side edge to form a plate. In two such plates elongated windows (4) are cut out in such a manner as to intersect the connecting line (3) of the two foils (1, 2). The partitions (5) separating the windows form thermocouples. The two plates are stacked and the first foil (1) of one plate rests on the foil (2) of the second plate, both foils being of different thermoelectric material. The thermocouples of one plate are arranged in the windows of the other plate, and both plates are connected together at the thermocouple ends. On mounting on the support the adjacent thermocouples are so severed that they are all in series.
