The land mine has a safety device which can be switched into the armed or safe position and vive versa. The safe position is clearly indicated. The mine can be armed on laying and it can be made safe from a distance if, for example, a clear path is required for own troops or for lifting of mines. The mine has a connecting element (16) which accommodates the mine charge detonator initiator. This connecting element acts as a blocking element which can be moved through safety, arming and restored safety position. The latter is indicated by a marking charge (38) which ejects the mine cover plate (8). In this case the main charge initiating cap is also exploded and rendered harmless and hence the marked mine can no longer be exploded by the usual initiating system.
