Dust protection around outlet nozzles of printer head - supplies electric field between ink jet spray head and platen to deflect dust

An electrode (15) near the spray head (1) and an electrode (16) near the platen (6) are attached to a voltage source of different polarity. A cover (4) made of dielectric material is placed over the spray head and effectively covers the nozzle side (8) and the neighbouring flat parts of the head while still leaving an opening (10) through which the ink droplets can pass. The cover can be moved in the direction of droplet movement and can be placed against the platen by a cam disc (7). The leading edge of the cover is curved to match the contours of the platen surface. Electrodes (15) of the same polarity are let into the leading side of the cover and are made of flat metallic bands.
