Copper-free gold casting alloy contg. indium - for dental applications

The Cu-free Au casting alloy of compsn. 50-70 wt.% Au, 2-4 wt.% Pt and 10-15 wt.% Ag contains in addn. 2-6 wt.% In at a Pd content of 2-6 wt.%, and up to 0.5 wt.% Ru, and 1.5-2.5 wt.% Zn. Pref. the alloy contains 68-71 wt.% Au, 4 wt.% PT, 4-5 wt.% Pd., 0.3 wt.% Ru, 13-15 wt.% Ag, 4.5-5.5 wt.% In and 1.5-2 wt.% Zn. The ratio of In:Pd is 0.5-2.0 wt.%, and Pd+In:Zn is 5-8 wt.%. The alloy has superior hardness and can be produced without difficulty. It is economical due to a relatively low Au content. The alloy is used for dentures produced by casting, and in sheet form for other dental applications.
