The loudspeaker diaphragm is responsive to frequencies over a wide range and requires no cross-over network. The diaphragm is saucer or dome shaped with a regular curvature and consists of several concentric elements connected by air-tight springs. A mechanical frequency-filter is formed by the masses of the membrane's elements and the spring couplings. The rear of the diaphragm is ridged and is reinforced with fibres. The rigid parts are made of plastics or thermoplastics and the springy parts of flexible resin, thermoplastic or rubber.
