The electronic switch consists of a 4-pole network and switches HF signals using a diode in its series branch and a diode in its shunt branch. A control circuit alternately forwards biases to the two diodes. A transformer consisting of a coaxial line in a circuit with d.c. decoupling is connected into the series branch. The coaxial line's inner conductor is grounded by a capacitor at one end and connected indirectly at the other to the HF input. The coaxial line's outer conductor is grounded by a capacitor at the signal input end and connected at the other end indirectly to the output of the switch.
