The recuperative burner for an industrial furnace passes fuel and air in a first direction into the furnace. Inside the latter, the gases of combustion are caused to circulate before they leave through the burner in a direction intersecting the first direction and are used to preheat the air. This combines adequate retention time in the furnace with the recovery of the residual heat of the flue gases.
