The catherine wheel comprises a hub unit turning on a nail etc. It is fitted with two or more radial arms of the same length. These arms form spokes, to whose free ends oblong pyrotechnic charges are fixed so as together to form a circle. Each arm has a two-part connector. One part of the connector is fitted at its inner end and the other on the hub, and it is so designed as to allow the arm to be mounted with its free end at several different distances from the centre.
