A device comprising two articulated arms format on one side gripping and clamping arm, and on the opposite side, two opposite curved and contiguous parts. A graduated cable is fixed on one of the branches and is guided by sliding in the opposite branch. The opening of the branches allows, by their curved part, the diametrical passage of the section to be measured from the shaft against the cable which is requested entraction and encloses the periphery of the section during the closing of the branches thus causing by its free strand, a corresponding linear movement of the cable. The cable allows directly or in a reported way to read through an opening with mark established on the corresponding gripping arm, the measurement of the circumference of the shaft.
