Photometrically operated lump mineral sorter - has light analysing sensor head activating sorting mechanism

A photometric mineral lump sorter has an endless feed belt which feeds mineral pieces below an illuminating arc. This has several high frequency light sources which provide uniform flicker free illumination of the mineral without any shadows. A sensor head containing several plane dichroic mirrors internally inclined at 45 deg. and a collector and transformer device is connected via a control circuit to an electromechanically operated deflector table by means of which the minerals are sorted into those required and those not required. Details of the construction and allied circuitry of the sensor head are given.
