A moulding machine, esp. an injection moulder, comprises a mould section secured to a fixed crosshead, a mould section secured to a movable crosshead, a driving mechanism for displacing the movable crosshead relatively to the fixed crosshead, tie rods connecting the two crossheads when the two mould sections are (partly) in contact, and hydraulically operating details which can completely close the mould sections and hold them closed against the high internal injection pressure. Each cross-head is provided on the side turned away from the mould section, with a rigid frame. Between =1 crosshead and its rigid frame, a number of hydraulic pressure cylinders are arranged. These form the hydraulically operated details mentioned, and the tie rods are secured detachably to the perimeters of the two rigid frames so as to link them together, with the help of the double-acting pressure cylinders, when the moulds approach each other. The tie rods are provided at both ends with two sets of profiles which engage with similar profiles along the edges of the rigid frames. The edges of the rigid frames may thus be castellated. The detachable tie rods facilitate the assembling and dismantling of the movable mould section. Fixed tie rods determine the axial length of the moulding and hence of one or both mould sections.
