The arrangement is for a system in which there is flow from low pressure (7) to a high pressure (8) and a separate flow in the opposite direction such as in a heating or cooling installation in a high rise building. It comprises a piston (2) in a cylinder (1) which isolates the two flows, valves (5, 6) which alternately opened and closed and non-return valves (3, 4). Alternate operation of the valves (5, 6) causes the piston to reciprocate, causing flow from high to low pressure and separate flow from low to high pressure with minimum energy requirement.
