The push button, with a press sensitive element supported by a thurst block, and compressed between the block and the actuation plate is protected against damage from excessive press caused by plastic deformation of the actuation plate. The thrust block has a nonlinear bending characteristic. For a pressure, transferred via the sensitive element, above a defined limit, the block is elastically deformed away from the actuator plate. A rigid plate, forced against housing stops forms the thrust block.
