Checking method for external profiles of mass produced workpieces - using adjustable needles with electrical contacts and common pressure bar

The external contour or shape checking device is for large mass-produced parts, e.g. washing mangle rollers, and tests a large number of contour points simultaneously. It is simply constructed, reliable in operation, and simple and cheap to produce. The shank is held for a short time in a given orientation by a holder. A set of needles is moved from a rest position into contact with the workpiece by a common pressure rail. Each needle is adjustably connected to the rail by a spring. Each needle has electrical contacts all either open or closed in the rest position and all in the alternative position when a correct profile is scanned. When an incorrect profile is scanned, some needle contacts are in the wrong switch mode.
