Gypsum board s made by applying a discontinuous, regularly distributed layer of sports of adhesive based on uncooked starch on two sheets of paper, lining the mould with these sheets, with the adhesive side inwards, pouring the slip of gypsum paste into the mould and allowing it to set then demoulding and heating the board to accelerate the set and cook the starch. The starch produces local adhesion, so that the paper is held firmly across the surface.
