Ophthalmic compsn. for treating ageing of the lens - contains glutamic acid, cysteine, glycine and fructose-1,6-di:phosphate

Opthalmic compsn. contains as active ingredients (A) a mixt. of the 3 amino acids which make up glutathione (Glu, Cys, Gly) and (B) D-fructose-1,6-diphosphate (I), opt. used as their inorganic or organic salts. Pref. the amino acids are present in the same mole ratio, 1:1:1, as in glutathione and the compsn. is esp. an aq. soln. contg. 0.01-5 (pref. 1-4) w/v% amino acids and 0.1-10 (pref. 5-10) w/v% (I), or their salts, Esp. (I) is used as its Na salt. Used esp. for treating ageing of the lens in human and veterinary medicine. The compsn. maintains the normal metabolic function of the lens, esp. a normal ATP level. There are no side effects or toxicity.
