Gas turbine combustion chamber - has cooling ring in chamber wall comprising two angled apertured flanges, with scoop ring associated with downstream flange
The combustion chamber consists of a cooling ring which forms part of the combustion chamber wall and which comprises two flanges at an angle to each other. A scoop ring is associated with the most downstream flange. Each flange has a number of apertures through which cooling air can flow. The apertures in the upstream flange are generally inclined upwardly, while those in the downstream flange are inclined downwardly. The scoop ring is arranged to capture a flow of cooling air and force it to flow through the apertures in the two flanges. The cooling ring may have a number of cooling air apertures in the junction between the flanges, with the cooling air apertures arranged in three rows, the central row apertures being staggered w.r.t. those in the other two rows.
