The curler is designed to produce a very curly, 'bouffant' hair style, for all lengths of hair. It consists of arms which are sloping and parallel or converging and in staggered formation to each other (4, 5). At least one arm has a curved wider part (6) at the end. At least one arm can have a cavity in it engaging with another arm which has a corresponding projection, to lengthen the curler as required. A hook (7) grips the strand (8) of hair which is to be wound onto the curler. A movable plastics or metal fixture (9) clamps the end of the strand (8) between one arm and itself. The hair is wound between two arms (4) sloping in one direction, then brought behind an arm (5) sloping in the other direction.
