An arrangement controlling the movement of a puppet mouth or beak is synchronism with disc or tape recorded speech has a 6 to 9 volt dc motor (1) which drives a pulley (2) around which a wire (3) is wound, the wire being connected through support loops (8) to the lower part (6) of the beak. When the sound ceases the motor stops and the weight of the counterbalance unwinds the wire closing the beak. A stop (10) limits the opening of the beak by limiting pivoting at the lower part.
