CONTROLLER FOR APPLYING AMOUNT OF SCALE REFORMING AGENT IN HOT ROLLING WORK

PURPOSE:To control the applying amount of the scale reforming agent to the optimum value depending on the deviation of the actually measured applied amount from the aim value, and to improve the reforming effect, by measuring the amount of the scale reforming agent applied to the hot strip, and by obtaining the deviation of this meassured value from the aim value. CONSTITUTION:In the hot finishing stand, the scale reforming agent is applied to the strip 8; the scale reforming agent detectors 1, 1, arranged so as to face the strip 8 on the run-out side of the work rolls 7, irradiate the light on the surface of the strip 8. Then, the light of wavelength, corresponding to the applied amount of the reforming agnet, is inputted to the reforming agent detectors 1, 1, and the applied amount of the reforming agent is measured by the measuring instrument 2 for the applied amount of the reforming agnet; then, the microcomputer 3 operates the deviation of this measured value from the previously set aim value. Next, this deviation value is inputted to the converter 4 which converts this deviation value into the feed rate of the reforming agent required in correcting the applied amount of the scale reforming agent. Then, the flow control valve 5 installed in the line pipe 9 is controlled to always spray the optimum amount of the scale reforming agent from the nozzle 6.
