Endroprosthesis for hip or knee joints consists of a shaft with a square thread, interrupted by four longitudinal slots, which is anchored in the medullary cavity. The ball joint head has an oblique face which meets an oblique cut on the bone with a surface of sawtooth-like ridges; these are driven into close contact with the bone material. The ball joint head is then located relative to the conical top end of the shank by a lock screw with a silicone plug on its thread. Arrangement provides a safe anchorage and distributes the load to be transmitted evenly over a wide area.
