The engine has a cylindrical outer case (9) with an inner concentric tube (10). They form a central chamber (2) inside the inner tube and an annular chamber (1) between the inner tube and the outer case. A cylindrical fuel unit (3) is placed in the inner chamber. Identical cylindrical fuel units are placed in a circular symmetrical pattern round it in the annular chamber. The end plate (11) of the casing has openings (12, 13) arranged in the same manner so that there is one opening for each fuel unit. The arrangement enables standard fuel units to be used.
