The electrodynamic force measurement instrument uses a position sensor to determine a balance condition between the measured force acting on a movable pick-up (3) and a counter force generated using a measurable electrical current. The instrument has a very wide linear measurement range and enables accurate measurement of small forces and force differences. A fixed coil (6) arranged in the field of a permanent magnet arrangement (8) carries the measurable current producing the electrodynamic counter force. The permanent magnet arrangement (8) consists of two opposite polarity permanent rod magnets separated in the pick-up movement direction and connected to it. A membrane (2) attached to the pick-up separates a press measurement chamber (13) from a reference press chamber (15). The membrane is attached to the pick-up via a flange or bonding arrangement.
