TV colour tube phosphor stripe application method - has dual light source utilising exposure to electro-sensitised layer for phosphor colour carrier fluid application according to charge level
The electrophotographic method uses a photoconducting layer of the inner front surface of the tube is charged to a high potential and exposed to light sources behind correction lenses and a colour strip selection electrode. Appropriate fluid and adhesive solutions are used to contain the phosphor in the appropriate charged area, the fluid flows off the uncharged sections. After each liquid 'development' the stripe is dried and the process repeated for another colour stripe. Two light sources (L1, L2) displaced from one another provide the exposure through a colour selection electrode (M) which is a mask containing apertures (W) which are larger than the rebates (V). The inner surface of the tube (1) has an electrode layer (2) of thin aluminium or polyinylalcohol substance with potassium silicate or conducting polymer. The photosensitive layer (3) covers the electrode (2) and is charged prior to exposure through the mask (M). The exposure results in an intensity profile in the photosensitive layer according to exposure from one or both light sources so that the blue exhibits the highest value (H), the red (R) and green (G) a half value (H/2) and a spacing layer (D) has a value less than 20% of the maximum (H). The intensity profile is used in the development process so that the correct phosphor stripe (4) is retained over the correct charge stripe after exposure.
