Column liq. distributor with run=off tongues - has tongue intervals in plane equal to inter-plane intervals

A liq. distributor for a counterflow column has parallel horizontal inverted U-channels whose attached vertical arms each have a row of adjacent outlet holes. Spaced externally of each arm is a parallel vertical wall whose base terminates in a row of run-off tongues each starting vertically below an outlet hole. The tongues are in sets of two or three. One tongue in each set is aligned with the vertical wall. The second is curved in an S-bend outwardly from the wall, and the third tongue if present is curved in the opposite direction. The ends of all tongues terminate vertically and lie in planes which are parallel to the wall and the same distance apart as the distances between two tongues in one of the planes. The liq. is uniformly distributed over the full column cross-section and there are no excessive pressure losses.
