摘要
A number of thin, striplike, pattern guide bars are arranged alongside each other, and each is provided in its lower zone with uniformly-spaced out eyelets, through which an end of yarn runs, in a warp knitting machine. A pattern thread selector moves forwards and backwards and has a number of thin plates for the selection of the separate ends. The plates are located beneath a group of guide bars, and can be moved into the spaces between the needles. They have a lower section acting as the sinker and an upper section for selecting the pattern threads. The upper section has an oblique front edge, like a sharp knife. A wire for pressing the pattern threads runs through all the sections of the selector. A pattern is produced by a combination of the motions of the pattern guide bars, displaced laterally by chain links, or other means; the advance of the selector which presses via the wire, threads against the back of the needles, and the swinging of a needle plate and a needle bar, as well as the overlapping motion of the guide bars for the ground fabric threads. It is possible to knit much more complicated patterns than can be achieved by thick guide bars arranged to swing forwards and backwards.
