The power shears or similar may be used in automobile workshops to cut damaged car bodies, and utilise two blades with toothed cutting edges. The teeth are formed by equal semi-circular notches at regular intervals in a straight edge, and the geometry of the two blades is such that a notch invariably encounters a straight edge section on the counter blade. The arrangement avoids workpiece buckling and blade fracture. The cutting edges of the two blades may subtend an angle of between 30 and 50 degrees, and the blades may have different teeth pitches to maintain the coincidence of notches with straight edges. The notches of the two blades may have the same radius with the lengths of the straight edges modified, and a fine tooth pitch may be utilised with notch radius being between 0.75 and 1.5mm.
