Power supply connector for four-conductor cable - has two contact elements in each port having knife-edges or points at ends to cut through insulating sheaths

The supply connection to a four conductor power cable is capable of withstanding 5kV of potential difference. It is intended for cables consisting of three plastics sheathed conductors and one lead sheathed conductor (4). The connection is made in two parts (6,7) which can be bolted together and are channeled to accommodate the cables. Two contact elements in each part (16,17) have knife-edges or points at their ends to cut through the sheaths (3,5) and an insulating tongue (15) separates the two conductors. Each contact has a channel (18) to connect the supply cables which are clamped by two screws (19) prior to clamping on the supply cable so that no insulated tools are needed. Two insulating plates (21,22) are placed between two pairs of wires before the two halves of the terminal are clamped together and the connection completed.
