摘要
A metal tube with a row of internal ring grooves is located on a cylindrical anvil, and is then surrounded by an outer tube. A welding process using high energy, esp. an explosion, is used to weld the tubes together, and also deforms both tubes so the composite prod. possesses both internal and external ring grooves. The composite prod. is pref. next machined on both its outer dia. (o.d.) and in its bore to remove the grooves, and is then cut into several rings in which both metals extend from the o.d. to the bore of the rings. Tubes can be welded via an explosive charge placed either inside or outside the tubes. Materials which cannot be welded together by normal methods can be joined by explosion welding, e.g. a Zr alloy tube can be welded to an austenitic stainless steel tube, followed by machining to mfr. composite rings.
