PURPOSE:A nonionic pharmaceutical, containing lysozyme as an active constituent, and capable of preventing the growth of bacteria by the direct application to an affected part or external wound just after the surgical operation or exodontia with no irritant action. CONSTITUTION:Lysozyme or lysozyme chloride is diluted with a carrier e.g. lactose, starch or a synthetic resin to about 5-10 times, and formulated into a pasty solution for use. The resultant pharmaceutical is directly applied to an affected part just after a surgical operation or exodontia or an exposed affected part of an external wound or athlete's foot to prevent the growth of bacteria. The treatment can be accelerated without showing the tendency to suppuration or aggravation. The substance is readily available and nontoxic to the human body even in a large amount.
