PURPOSE:To determine the Co in a voltage non-linear resistor consisting essentially of ZnO in particular, quickly with high accuracy by polishing a sample with #180 carborundum then washing and drying the same thence analyzing it quantitatively by an X-ray fluorometry. CONSTITUTION:After a sample is polished with #180 carborundum, it is washed and is dried with hot wind, thence, the Co in the sample consisting essentially of ZnO is determined quickly with hith accuracy by an X-ray fluorometry. If Bi2O3 or Sb2O3 coexists in this sample, there is a tendency for the determination of Co less than the actuality and therefore, correction equations for these are beforehand prepared by using the correction factors determined from known contents of Sb2O3, Bi2O3 and the results are corrected by these equations, whereby the Co is measured with good accuracy.
