A method for the magnetohydrostatic levitation and concn. of particles, made of paramagnetic or ferromagnetic materials, to a chosen point inside a cavity uses a nonhomogeneous magnetic field with an axial symmetry which is applied from outside. Such methods are used to direct magnetic liposomes or erythrocytes which are enriched with cancer antidotes towards a tumour inside a patient. The magnetic fields which are applied produce a trajectory along a non-linear path, consisting of a part in the direction towards the axis of symmetry and a part along this axis. To concentrate a particle at a certain point on the axis, the magnetic field is moved with its axis of symmetry cyclically into different positions.
