Composite material contains a C fibre-reinforced C skeleton structure, (A), as reinforcing unit, and a thermoplastic matrix (B). The total surface of the reinforcing unit, (A) is pref. coated with 0.05-10 (0.1-5) wt.%, w.r.t (A) wt., of an epoxy resin contg. unreacted epoxide gps. The matrix (B) pref. consists of a graft copolymer of a monoethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid on an olefin polymer. Laminates can be obtd. having high rigidity, strength, creep-resistance, low heat-expansion, good electrical- and heat-conductivity, good impact tenacity, smooth surface and high corrosion-resistance. The intrinsic strength of (A) is retained on destruction by fire and C-fibre pulverisation is prevented.
