Fret dimensioning for electric bass guitar - has shortened frets giving fretless finger board portions to permit producing double bass effects

The arrangement is intended for a guitar, or an electric guitar, particularly an electric bass guitar. To optimise the tone colour and widen the playing possibilities, e.g. producing effects normally obtainable on a double bass, the lengths of certain frets (1-5), nearer the guitar body, are reduced. Thus they do not extend over the full width of the fingerboard. The frets (6,5,3) at the transitions to the fretless fingerboard portion are preferably flattened to facilitate playing.
