The truncheon has a loop (6) attached to one end, and can be extended telescopically. The handle (1) can form the first telescopic tube section and is connected to a resilient stem (4) by two further tube sections (2,3). The resilient stem is attached to the last tube section (3) and carries a rubber block (5) at its free end. This also acts as a stop when the truncheon is closed to its smallest size. The flexible stem can be formed by a spring or can be of plastics material.
