The valve for a w.c. comprises an inlet nozzle (3) incorporating a deflector (8) which directs the incoming water towards the side (1) of the water rank to reduce noise. The nozzle consists of a flat vertical conduit, the sides (24,25) of which are parallel to the internal wall of the tank. The lower edge of the inner side (25) of the conduit carries the deflector (8) which is angled at 45 degrees to the side (1) of the tank.
