Automatic load shedding controller for electrical installation - uses overcurrent detectors on input supply to disconnect low priority loads if input current becomes excessive
Automatic load shedding controller for electrical installation - uses overcurrent detectors on input supply to disconnect low priority loads if input current becomes excessive
The load shedding controller is used to automatically cut off low priority loads in a low voltage electrical installation if an overcurrent occurs in the single supply which distributes current to the various loads. The controller is assembled in a moulded housing and has connections for the single incoming supply and the various loads derived from the supply. Current detectors (44) are fitted to each of the three phases of the incoming supply. An overcurrent results in an electronic circuit (58) switching a relay (68), removing the low priority load, and activating visual (60,56) and audible (54) warning signals. A timing circuit prevents operation under transient overload conditions.
