1513155 Discharging hoppers MOLINS Ltd 28 Aug 1975 [30 Aug 1974] 37955/74 Heading B8S A hopper, Fig. 1, for use with cigarette-making machines, comprises a tobacco space 2 below which are contra-rotatable spiked feed rollers 8, 10 which feed the tobacco in two streams to a respective channel 16, 18 defined partially by a pivotally mounted flap 20, which in the full line position shown prevents passage of material down channel 16, two additional spiked rollers 12, 14 which rotate in opposite directions at a higher speed than the rollers 8, 10 being engaged below the latter for removing any tobacco which might tend to remain on the rollers 8, 10. The tobacco from the channels 16, 18 is fed by the drum arrangement shown below the said channels 16, 18 to a conveyer 48. In the embodiment of Fig. 4 the tobacco is fed by a pneumatic unit 96 to a tobacco accumulation space 96B and thence by a conveyer 102 to a tobacco space 94 below which is the four-roller arrangement 52, 54, 60, 62 which feeds the tobacco to a projector roller 116 which projects the tobacco at a relatively high speed in the direction of arrow 118. Similar roller arrangements are shown in the embodiments of Figs. 5 and 7 (not shown).
