SURFACE SCALE REMOVING METHOD FOR HOT ROLLED STRIP

PURPOSE:To perform pickling and descaling processes effectively in a short time by grinding a part of surface scales of a hot strip as pretreatment of pickling. CONSTITUTION:A hot strip 10 advances in the direction of the arrow, and carried to a flap roll grinder 7 through pinch rolls 11, bridle rolls 12, a looper 13 and bridle rolls 14. The flap roll grinder 7 is installed just before a pickling tank 8 and pinch rolls 15 and 16 are arranged before and after the flap roll to grind the hot strip 10. By grinding a part of surface scales of the hot strip 10 the thickness of the scale is reduced and fine cracks are generated by grinding. Thus, intrusion of pickling agent in the succeeding process is facilitated.
