Machine for stretching and splitting textile fibres comprises repeat gps. of three rollers, an upper pressure roller, and two lower rollers, one of which is a fluted support roller, and the other a grooved control roller with the grooves running perpendicular to the axis. A pressing or tamping roller is associated with the lower control roller, and dissociated from the upper pressure rollers, and is situated between them both. The conformation of the rollers achieves improved fibre control.
