Lengthwise flame-cutting thick steel plates - supported by transverse upright plates with cut=outs on connected parallel horizontal plates

Installation for supporting thick steel plates during flame cutting in longitudinal direction, comprises a base formed by a number of parallel rows of thick steel plates interconnected end to end in longitudinal direction by rebated straight welds and a number of transverse plates placed on edge and fitting via double-recessed joins. The upper edges of these plates are provided with recesses where the supported plate is to be cut. Enclosures are arranged at either end of the plates to contain connection points for oxygen, natural gas and electricity and to store the cutting equipment, hoses, cables, etc.. Used in flame cutting thick steel plates in longitudinal direction. The arrangement provides a reliable and safe support which prevents tipping of the plates during and after cutting. It enables achieving a high production rate with a good quality of cut and accurate dimensional control.
