In a shelving unit for bookshops and libraries, consisting of lateral cheeks with perforated strips extending parallel to the longitudinal edges, a base part and a cover part, and of shelf bottoms with a rear wall part which are supported on pins inserted into the holes in the perforated strips, the object to be achieved is to provide a shelving unit of maximum simplicity of structure which can easily be adapted to the varying conditions in a bookshop and the design of which can also be changed by a simple conversion. The invention achieves this object in that a front part consisting of two front-part cheeks, a base part and a display shelf which closes the front part at the top is removably attached to the lower part of the end face of the side cheeks by means of connecting fittings, in that the front-part cheeks are sections of the material of the side cheeks, and in that a vertical board with a connecting fitting is provided as a reinforcement, whose clamping discs, arranged in the board, engage into clamping screws which are screwed into the holes of the rows of holes in the side cheeks. Such a shelving unit is distinguished by great simplicity of structure and by great versatility in its possible applications.
