The base comprises (pref. wt. % in brackets) (a) water retention agent, (b) plasticiser (c) antioxidant (d) emulsifier (e) an adhesive, (f) retarder (g) pH stabiliser and (h) anti-cryptogamic agents. The base finds universal use and gives excellent result in all cases. It is used in amt. of 4% in the final prod. giving compsn. having 6-48 hrs. pot life. Pref. (a) is methylcellulose, (b) is vinyl powder, (c) is triphenylphosphite, (e) is hide gelatin powder (f) bond glue (g) is amylaceous ether and (h) is cryptogil. The base pref. also contaisn CaSO4 as catalyst.
