A connection is made between two contact strips, placed end to end inside an insulating junction box. The two facing ends reside inside an opening in the box and are joined electrically by a bar (5) which bridges the two strips and may be pivoted and shifted to break the connection. The bridging bar is supported by a control rod held in the housing along with a spring which presses the bar against the contacts in the closed position and pushes it free through the gap between the contacts in the open position. A cap on the rod has a horn which locates in a circular groove or window in the wall of the box with a quarter turn between the open and closed positions, one end of the groove being extended with an open groove parallel to the rod, the other end with a blind eye.
