Automatic log supplier for open hearth fire - uses pivoted bars to retain logs on slope, with electromagnet actuated release of retainers to allow logs to roll

A ramp (9) is installed in front of the hearth of the fire, forming a steep slope descending towards the hearth. The slope is at a sufficiently steep angle to permit the logs to roll down under gravity. Retainers (15) for the logs are provided, and locks (17,20) are on the ramp, used for the retainers. A timer mechanism (22,23) releases the retainers and allows logs to roll down the ramp at regular intervals. The retainers are pivoted bars (15) projecting perpendicularly from the ramp (9). The pivot (14) is near one end, and the weight of the log is balanced by a retaining rod (18) catching a projection (17) on the back of the bar (15). An electromagnet (21,22) withdraws the retaining rod (18) in response to a signal from a timer. This allows the bar to tip, releasing the log.
