The supple container (1) with handling equipment is used to convey and tip fragmented solid material such as coal. It is open at the top and has a discharge opening in a base (4) in the shape of a truncated pyramid, the base being located by a frame of the same form. The frame has top (10) and bottom (14) frames connected by inclined bars (15), being mounted on four legs (11) extending between the top frame and toe rails (12). The opening is closed by foldable flaps of which the outer has an eyelet for a rod (8) secured by hooks (16) and closure sprung pivot bolts mounted on two inclined bars. The handling equipment may use a wagon on overhead rails to convey the container and frame to a loading funnel, using a ram to effect relative horizontal movements of the frame and the wagon, and using a rocking stop to effect discharge by lifting the rod out of the hook.
