Shaft furnace wall cooling plate - with vertical cooling elements separated from horizontal cooling tubes which support refractory lining

A cooling plate for the walls of metallurgical furnaces, esp. shaft furnaces for the nonferrous metallurgy and cupolas, consists of L- and Z-shaped cooling tubes which are sepd. from the furnace shell by bushes or horizontal cooling pipes. The latter are U-shaped and carry a refractory lining on the part of the U-shape inside the furnace. This design results in a better endurance of the refractory lining and therefore in longer intervals before a major overhaul becomes due.
